Sacraments of the Catholic Church

While we believe that human life is infused with the sacramental goodness of God, the Catholic Church has defined seven sacraments - instituted by and through the life of Jesus Christ. It is through the experience of the sacramental ritual that we are infused with God’s grace. The Sacraments nourish and strengthen us as they express and build up our faith.
The Latin word sacramentum means "a sign of the sacred." The seven sacraments are ceremonies that point to what is sacred, significant and important for Christians. They are special occasions for experiencing God's saving presence. That's what theologians mean when they say that sacraments are at the same time signs and instruments of God's grace.
If you are a parishioner at St. Joseph’s and who will receive a sacrament at another parish, you will be asked to provide a letter of good standing.
If you would like a copy of a certificate for a sacrament that has taken place in the past, please contact Rita Golaszewski in the parish office, by e-mail to RGolaszewski@Brookfield.com or by fax at (203) 775-1684.
